My East Side stops:
This year on my Aunt’s recommendation I popped into the Guggenheim first to see their permanent collection which is only occasionally on display. It is definitely worth a trip if you have never been to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed museum.
The Guggenheim: 1071 Fifth Ave
The Met is my favorite museum hands down, even though I live in DC the land of free museums. There is something about the Met. It’s been an UES destination of mine since about age 7. Whether I’m going for a specific exhibit or just to wander the permanent collection, it’s a must see each trip. I usually hop a cab through Central Park. Click here for my more extensive Met recommendations:
The Metropolitan Museum of Art: 1000 Fifth Ave, New York, NY
Tulip Nails: a quick walk from the Met, the prices are good and they do a great job! 1185 Lexington Ave between 80th & 81st
The Plaza: “Oooh I just love the Plaza” – Eloise, but seriously the not so new anymore downstairs Shops area has tasty treats and of course the Eloise gift shop!
*note I used to love to grab my coffee at the Shops at the Plaza and meander down 5th to gaze in the Tiffany’s window ala Audrey, however please beware Trump Tower is right next door…
Teuscher chocolates: The MOST magical champagne truffles, a family favorite since the 80s, but be prepared to spend a pretty penny… 620 5th Ave (in Rockefeller Plaza)
A few blocks down is the H&M flagship, you can pretty much throw a stone and hit an H&M somewhere in Manhattan but this one has a home section with tons of reasonably priced items! Over the years I’ve picked up everything from soap dishes to baskets to candle votives. You can’t beat the prices on items that look pretty high end!
H&M flagship: 589 5th Ave
